Tevfik Esenç - The last of Ubykh language (September 21, 1991)

The last (known) recording of the Ubykh language is a short voice message to Georges Charachidzé, recorded on September 21, 1991, shortly after he recorded a folk tale entitled "Contest of Lies". Charachidzé, G. 1991 "Nouveaux récits oubykhs." (REGC6-7. pp.1-22.)   *most true = truest jəna-dɐʁʷa za-mʃada-gʷara ø- la:χʷa-qʼa-gʲəla jəɬa-na ɐ-tɕa-mətɕa ɐ-tɕa-padʒ səʁʷa ɐ-s-tɕʼa-fa-qʼa-ma. this-like one-thing-certain 3sABS-exist(PL)-PAST-although these-PL the-more-lie the-more-true I 3sABS-1sERG-know-can-PAST-NEG. There were things like this, but I could not know what is the most true and what is the most false. * ɐ-tɕa (the-more) - "the most ", superlative   s əʁʷa j ə- ø -s-q ʼa-q ʼa-na ɐ-tɕa-padʒ ɐ-tɕa-mətɕa ø- d ə- ø- tɕʼa-n ø- la:t- ø - da ø - ø - q ʼa-ba  səʁʷa-g ʲə ɐ-z-gʲə:ʂɐfa-ʃ-aw.
